Excel Date Changes by Four Years

Why does the date change when you copy cells from an old Excel spreadsheet to a new one?

I had a customer with an Excel spreadsheet saved in the Excel 97 format. They opened it up in Excel 2007 and copied the contents to a new spreadsheet – and the date within the date cell changed by four years!

Try this

Go to the Windows Computer Manager and select the Disk Manager. Does the drive show as a GPT Protected Partition? That’s your problem.

Rootkit Removal Requires Reinstall

There is a new rootkit trojan called “Popureb” that Microsoft says will require you to reinstall your operating system to completely remove this rootkit.

[Update: Microsoft now advises using the Windows Recovery Console, however many security experts still advise a complete re-install for a rootkit removal]
